… the physical sciences were applied in software development and electrical systems. I also realized that they could be applied to even non-physical sciences such as biology or economics.
As a graduate student at MIT, I applied my knowledge and experience in math and the sciences into research involving a Modeling of the Human Vestibular System at the Man-Vehicle Laboratory. I conducted a project that investigated the dynamic stability of the head, relative to the body, in response to linear accelerations. Head movements in response to linear acceleration were studied in normal and labyrinthine-defective (LD) subjects for anterior-posterior and for inter-aural axis accelerations, and were analyzed in frequency and time domains. The transfer functions of vestibulocollic reflex (VCR), which uses semicircular canal and otolith input and cerivcocollic reflex (CCR), which uses neck proprioceptor input to regulate the head position with respect to the trunk, were developed and analyzed in this project. Substantial software programming using MATLAB and statistical data analysis were also performed.
As a graduate research assistant of Professor B, Harvard University Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences, I conducted various statistical data analysis such as EOFs, canonical correlation and area-variance scaling analysis. My …
