In order to have an organization dedicated to total quality service, both customersatisfaction and benchmarking are extremely important. Together, these two factors combine in many ways to help create total quality service in an organization.
Customer satisfaction is obviously very important. It lets businesses know how they are doing in relation to the opinions of the customers who have used their products or services. Many businesses use surveys in order to get to reliable data about customer satisfaction, but to comment cards and other ideas work well to determine how satisfied customers really are with a particular business (Rigby, 163).
Benchmarking is also important, as it tells businesses how they are doing in relation to their competitors. Obviously, they cannot get information from their competitors as easily as they can get it from their customers, but there are still legal and moral ways of obtaining enough information to make a determination as to whether or not a particular business is competing well, or only floundering (Brown, 29).
