The movie “Mississippi Burning”, directed by Alan Parker, starring Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe, is a 1988 film based on the FBI investigation of three civil rights workers murdered in the state of Mississippi in 1964. Portraying the segregated south in America during the Civil Rights movement, the movie focuses on two FBI agents, Rupert Anderson (Gene Hackman) and Alan Ward (Willem Dafoe). The film opens up when three civil rights activists (one black and two white) traveling down an old deserted road during the night. They are being chased by a car that is driven by Ku Klux Klan members and ultimately forced off the road and murdered. FBI agents Anderson and Ward are then sent to Mississippi to solve the murder case.

Considering the stressful condition in health related institutions, many research have been made to find solution or approaches to the problem encountered by health professionals particularly nurses and care givers.  In her review, Griffiths made use of different journal articles dealing with stress in the workplace that she analyzed trying to gauge their reliability and validity using the data presented in each research.  Though she personally concluded that the studies conducted were not reliable considering the diversity of “intervention and measurement instruments” (p. 12), the findings of these studies are highly significant to conclude that both personnel support intervention and environmental management intervention are effective in reducing stress experienced by nursing professionals.
