North Korea in Cyber Attack: What Must Be the Reason Behind?

Cyber terror rocked US and South Korea on a suspected terrorism assault mastermind by the Pyongyang administration. Key administrative websites and dozen private sites were targeted by the hacker which seemed to have originated from overseas.  US officials maintained that it would take time to identify the culprit but they believed them to be an amateur organization based on the manner that they launch the cyber attack. Cyber security groups described it as loud and clumsy without the sophistication expected from international adversaries. However, South Korea was quick to single out North Korea as the primary suspect and not just an individual hacker because of the higher level the assault have reached.

North Korea has increasingly been accused of pursuing nuclear ambitions, contravening most of the international treaties and agreements set in place to combat weapons of mass destruction. As a chief player at the global front, the United States should remain in the forefront in the search for a working solution to the issue which not only threatens the neighboring countries, but the entire world in general. In light of the subsequent failures of the various policy decisions implemented by the international community in an attempt to denuclearize the country, this study proposes the adoption of a comprehensive approach entailing increased direct talks in addition to offering more economic incentives as the most feasible way out.
