What would Said say about Aphra Behn as a writer? Is he right about the first European novelist?

I believe that if Edward W. Said has read Aphra Behn’s work Oroonoko he would have understood what the book represented at the time and would have admired it not only for the accuracy it represented regarding the dealings of the imperial crown with the African nation, but for how unique it was in being one of the few books to do so. But at the same time his professionalism would never allow him to accept or endorse the book as it was. Said would have admired Oroonoko for the distinctive writing style that combined modern writing with a journalistic approach in order to make the reader feel like he was there. But he would have also condemned the book for pretending to be what it was certainly not.
