In the Middles Ages, cathedrals were used for religious services and other related ceremonies such as baptisms, marriages and funerals. Other than those, cathedrals also served as burial grounds. Building cathedrals took a hundred years and every part of it had a purpose, like; buttresses as bridges, clerestories for more lighting, porches for shelter and spires to hold a cross or a weather vane. Cathedrals have become tourist attractions because of their grandiose architecture.
