Some of Wakatsukis earliest memories are her experiences as a seven-year-old child when she was interned in community called Manzanar. Her father and mother had to leave their fishing business and essentially live like prisoners of war. At first, the young girl laughed and played, unaware of the tremendous disruption that had been caused to her family and home life. However, gradually she became aware of the loss that had been wrought upon her life and identity. Still, she coped, ironically by become a typical American girl, fascinated by cheerleaders, Boy Scouts, sock hops, baton twirling lessons and dancing to all of the top hits on the radio. For much of her life she would similarly use a coping strategy to become more American, to forget her traditional Asian past and her fathers shame, and to erase her memories of Manzanar by fully assimilating into American culture. Hence her wish to become invisible, to erase the one trace of what had identified her family as other her face.

All praised him; even the Italian government who once denied his request for funds for research and development, notable scientist and inventor Thomas Jefferson even sang Marconi praises. Although, he is no longer here on earth, his legend lives on, his company Marconi Corporation continues on in his name. The radio and television industry has undergone some reincarnation in the last 30 years or so. This has become quite evident with the switch over to digital signals from analog which look to favor the more commercial driven stations than the PBS supported non-commercial stations. This is because the larger target audience will generate a larger source of income through advertisements for the commercial stations. The PBS stations also stand to increase their revenues through the predicted demand for underwriting services and licensing unused broadband capacity when it comes to digital transmission. With the changing dynamics in the broadcasting market, both the commercial and non-commercial stations have had to factor in the various external forces that pose a direct influence to their survivability. This changing external environment can be better understood if we analyze it in terms of Porter’s competitive forces.
