Chyng Feng Sun wrote, directed and produced the film Mickey Mouse Monopoly. The film documents different opinions on how the Disney Corporation affects the children’s worldview. Dr. Henry Giroux opens with a stories from when he was writing and releasing the book “The Mouse that Roared. The Disney corporation, he says, presented many roadblocks in his getting published. Off the bat, this gives the viewers an idea of how much sway the seemingly innocent Mickey Mouse Corporation has over the media and information that get to us. “A fantasy that never needs to be questioned.” Giroux describe the clout Disney holds over the consumers. Then a detailed and compelling commentary by Dr. Justin Lewis tells us why Disney holds such power. Disney, he says, is one of a handful of corporations that own most of the media we consume. This poses a grave problem for democracy. A female voice over educates the audience on how the media conglomerates own too much of the media and thereby hold “unprecedented” control over the information and images that we see. This control, I must say would give such an entity the ability to mold stereotypes and even perpetuate.

… believe that there can exist many Buddhas, in contrast to Theravada Buddhism, who believe only in the arhat. Another difference between the Theravada and the Mahayana schools of Buddhism is that the Theravada Buddhists practice Buddhism to attain enlightenment first, then to extend their help to other people to also attain enlightenment. Meanwhile, Mahayana Buddhists are more cooperative with others, because, in order to attain enlightenment, Mahayana Buddhists need to help others first in order for them to attain enlightenment together. As long as there are people who are not able to achieve enlightenment, there is no possibility that enlightenment will also be attained by a Mahayana Buddhist. Despite their differences in practicing the attainment of enlightenment and belief in attaining the position of Buddha, Mahayana and Theravada Buddhist have also similarities as schools of discipline under the Buddhist religion. Both schools follow the Four Noble Truths and the Eight- Fold Path, they also reject the idea that there exists a supreme being that created the world, and they also believe in the achievement ofenlightenment and Nirvana as the ultimate goal that every Buddhist should have, wherein they can find eternal happiness and peace. I am the kind of listener who is very empathic with the kind of message the song or the piece portrays. I believe that every melody and rhythm suggests a deeper meaning than what is simply conveyed in the lyrics of the song.

Madame de Lafayette’s Historical Fiction Essay

Madame de Lafayette wrote “The Princess of Cleves” as a comment upon society during the reign of King Louis XIV (though she masks her true intentions by veiling King Louis XIV as a fictional King Henry II). It is well-known that her cast of characters are based upon real people (except the heroine who is purely fictional) and that the events told within are based, to an accurate degree, upon the events during the time. If anything, Lafayette’s work can be read as one of the first published works of historical fiction. With that said, a look will now be taken into the context of “The Princess of Cleves” to determine the realities of life that noblewomen faced while serving in the court of King Louis XIV.
