Tense, Aspect, and Modality in Japanese and English Essay

Japanese and English being typologically different, follow different word orders, and adopt different mechanisms to express grammatical meaning. Verbal structure is a case in point. This study involves a detailed analysis of the verbal system of the two languages, to study how Japanese and English differ in their expression of Tense features. Using examples from both languages, the study aims to compare and contrast how Tense, Aspect and Mood are expressed, and by what means. The morphological mechanism of each language would be illustrated with examples to identify traits unique to a particular language. This would help understand the grammatical and lexical elements that convey verbal features.
